Our consultants
Gary Houchens, PhD, is associate professor of educational administration, leadership and research at Western Kentucky University. A former teacher, principal and district administrator in public, private and alternative school settings, Gary was trained in instructional rounds by Harvard’s Richard Elmore and has studied the Enneagram for 17 years. Gary’s interests include improving school effectiveness through instructional rounds, theories of practice and contemplative learning. Gary is author of the School Leader blog, which focuses on issues and trends relevant for aspiring and practicing school administrators.
Tom Stewart, EdD, was trained in Enneagram coaching by Ginger Lapid-Bogda, PhD, creator and author of numerous Enneagram products and books, including Bringing Out the Best in Yourself at Work: How to Use the Enneagram System for Success. Tom is assistant professor of education at Austin Peay State University. A former Highly-Skilled Educator for the Kentucky Department of Education, and elementary, middle grades, and high school teacher, Tom has facilitated district-wide initiatives to implement balanced assessment, coordinated formative assessment academies and conducted the first ever Contemplative Leadership Academy for school administrative teams.
